Beams Plus Engineer Jacket - Indigo Sashiko
This engineer jacket from BEAMS PLUS is based on vintage pieces from American store brands from the 1950s and 1960s, with an updated fit for a more modern, comfortable look.
The raglan sleeves and triple stitching hold down the key points of workwear, and the sleeve length is deliberately set a little short, making it less bulky even when worn with the cuffs rolled up. It is called the engineer jacket because of the story that mechanics and others liked to wear it at the time.
The denim material, made using a technique called sashiko, is an original fabric from BEAMS PLUS. It is all made using genuine indigo, and a special loom is used to skip the warp threads, creating a pattern that looks like it was hand-sewn. The base fabric also features a checkered pattern with light and dark indigo shades.
